When Ken Tet was born in 1927, her father, Nhang Tet, was 17 and her mother, Kady Leach, was 14. She died on 22 December 2004, in Kandal, Cambodia, at the age of 77.

Cambodia wins its independence from France. Under King Sihanouk, it becomes the Kingdom of Cambodia.

Age 38

Relations are broken with the U.S. Head of State Sihanouk allows North Vietnamese guerrillas to set up bases in Cambodia in pursuance of their campaign against the U.S.-backed government in South Vietnam.

Age 48

Cambodia is renamed Kampuchea.
