1890 · The Sherman Antitrust Act

This Act tried to prevent the raising of prices by restricting trade. The purpose of the Act was to preserve a competitive marketplace to protect consumers from abuse.

1892 · The Masonic Temple Building

The Masonic Temple Building was a skyscraper built in Chicago and from 1895 to 1920 it was the tallest building in Chicago. The building featured a central court surrounded by shops on nine floors. On top of the shops there were meeting rooms that were also used as theaters. In 1939 the Masonic Temple was demolished, and a Walgreens drug store was erected in its place. 

1901 · Assassination of Mckinley

President William McKinley was shot at the Temple of Music, in the Pan-American Exposition, while shaking hands with the public. Leon Czolgosz shot him twice in the abdomen because he thought it was his duty to do so. McKinley died after eight days of watch and care. He was the third American president to be assassinated. After his death, Congress passed legislation to officially make the Secret Service and gave them responsibility for protecting the President at all times.

Pet form of Henry . This was the usual English form of Henry in the Middle Ages and later. It was used by Shakespeare , for example, as the familiar name of the mature King Henry V ( compare Hal ). Since the publication of the first of J. K. Rowling's Harry Potter titles (Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone) in 1997 , Harry has become extremely popular as an independent given name.
