When Nils Johan Hansen was born on 30 May 1899, his father, Nils Johan Hansen, was 39 and his mother, Inga Nilsdatter, was 37. He married Alma Mathisen on 6 June 1925, in Hordaland, Norway. They were the parents of at least 2 sons. He died in March 1960, at the age of 60.
