When James Doster was born on 14 August 1735, in Winchester, Virginia, United States, his father, Thomas E. Doster, was 40 and his mother, Maria Agnes Stephan, was 40. He married Lydia Springer in 1764, in Buford Township, Union, North Carolina, United States. They were the parents of at least 8 sons and 7 daughters. He died in 1818, in Mecklenburg, North Carolina, United States, at the age of 83.

1758 · Mount Vernon

Mount Vernon Plantation was the home of George Washington. It started off as 2,000 acres and was later expanded to 8,000 acres. The house itself started off as a six room building then got extended to twenty-one rooms.

Name Meaning

German: from an agent derivative of Middle High German doste, toste ‘wild thyme, shrub, bouquet’ (see Dost ), hence either an occupational name for a herbalist or a topographic name, especially for someone whose land abutted an uncultivated piece of land. It is also found in France (Lorraine), but it is very rare there.
