When Casper Jeremias Labuschagne was born on 14 September 1856, his father, Willem Adriaan Labuschagne, was 28 and his mother, Heila Aletta Elisabeth Labuschagne, was 25. He married Jacomina Hendrina Jacoba Wilhelmina van Dyk on 19 March 1883, in Western Cape, South Africa. They were the parents of at least 2 sons and 1 daughter. He died on 29 May 1960, in Tulbagh, Tulbagh, Cape Province, South Africa, at the age of 103.

Name Meaning

form of Jasper , also found as a variant in English. According to legend, this was the name of one of the three Magi or ‘wise men’ who brought gifts to the infant Christ. The Magi are not named in the Bible, but early Christian tradition assigned them the names Caspar, Balthasar, and Melchior. Among the best known bearers in modern times is the U.S. statesman Caspar Weinberger ( 1917–2006 ).
