The Kangxi Dictionary was published in 1716 by the order of the Kangxi Emperor. It contains over 47,000 characters, less than a quarter of which remain in common use today. This dictionary was used as the standard throughout most of the 18th and 19th centuries.
1725 · Marquis of Extended Grace

During the Qing Dynasty, a single descendant of the Ming Dynasty Imperial Family would hold the title of "Marquis of Extended Grace." The title holder would be referred to as the Marquis of Zhu, and would attend biannual memorial ceremonies at the Ming tombs. The title was created in 1725, after the Qing government had made peace with the remaining Ming Loyalists. Zhu Zhilian was the first title holder. The Marquis of Extended Grace would end up being bestowed upon twelve holders, the last being Zhu Yuxun (who inherited the title in 1891).
1755 · Completion of the Puning Temple

The Puning Temple (also referred to as the Big Buddha Temple) was completed in 1755, while the Qing Dynasty was ruled by the Qianlong Emperor. It features drum and bell towers, elaborate pavilions, and large temple halls. The founding of the temple was used by the Qianlong Emperor to commemorate their recent victory over the Dzungar people.
