1652 · The First Anglo-Dutch War

Also referred to as the First Dutch War. This was an entirely sea-based conflict that arose by trade disputes between the United Provinces of the Netherlands against the Commonwealth of England. Ended with the Treaty of Westminster; Holland agreed to respect the Navigation Act and compensate England accordingly.
1655 · Amsterdam City Hall is Opened

The City of Amsterdam Town Hall was opened by Mayor Cornelis de Graeff on July 29, 1655. This structure would end up being converted into the Royal Palace of Amsterdam in the future (1806-1810).
1683 · Society of Suriname

The Suriname Society was established as a subsidiary of the Dutch West India Company. Their primary goal was to venture overseas and develop the new colony known as Suriname. The three primary participants of the society were the Dutch West India Company, the city of Amsterdam, and the Van Aerssen van Sommelsdijck family. All citizens of the Dutch Republic were free to trade with Suriname.
