The proclamation of the Kingdom of Italy was the formal act that sanctioned the birth of the Italian nation, establishing the Kingdom of Italy. It happened with a normative act of the Savoyard Kingdom of Sardinia ( law 17 March 1861, n. 4671) with which Vittorio Emanuele II assumed for himself and for his successors the title of King of Italy.
