When Baltzer Larsen was born on 25 October 1810, in Sandsvær, Buskerud, Norway, his father, Lars Torbjornsen, was 33 and his mother, Aase Marie Baltzersdatter, was 24. He married Rønnaug Marie Jakobsdatter Aasterud on 23 June 1832. They were the parents of at least 5 sons and 3 daughters. He lived in Ramnes, Jarlsberg og Larvik, Norway in 1875. He died in 1881, in Ramnes, Re, Vestfold, Norway, at the age of 71.

1812 · Record-keeping

A uniform system for keeping church records was introduced by royal ordinance in December 1812. Prior to that there were no directions on how to keep church records. It required that a duplicate register be kept in a separate place.

1814 · Syttende Mai (17th May)

Constitution declared Norway to be an independent kingdom to avoid being ceded to Sweden from Denmark. Celebrated by Norwegians & Norwegian-Americans on May 17th each year.

1829 · Colonel Hans Christian Heg

Birth year of Colonel Heg Hans Christian Heg emigrated in 1840 with his parents to Muskego, Wisconsin. Norwegian American Civil War hero, abolitionist, journalist, anti-slavery activist, politician and soldier. He was best known for leading the Scandinavian 15th Wisconsin Volunteer Regiment on the Union side in the American Civil War.
