When Sunema A. Leauanae was born on 17 February 1893, in Salelologa, Samoa, her father, Arona Leauanae, was 25 and her mother, Mele Fonoia, was 26. She married Sione Suli Asiata II in 1909, in Gataivai, Palauli, Savai'i, Samoa. They were the parents of at least 2 sons. She died in October 1962, in Samoa, at the age of 69, and was buried in Magiagi, Tuamasaga, Upolu, Samoa.
