When Sarah Hicks was born on 15 March 1831, in Haldimand Township, Northumberland, Ontario, Canada, her father, Daniel Hicks, was 32 and her mother, Mary Miller, was 31. She married George Jamieson on 22 July 1882, in Ontario, Canada. She died on 4 January 1921, in Tyendinaga, Hastings, Ontario, Canada, at the age of 89.

1883 · Mining Boom

In 1883, there was a mining boom in Northern Ontario when mineral deposits were found near Sudbury. Thomas Flanagan was the blacksmith for the Canadian Pacific Railway that noticed the deposits in the river.
