Brief Life History of Andrew

Andrew Casey Sr, the father of Andrew F., Edmond and Morgan A. Casey, was born in County Cork, Ireland, in 1790, where he was reared and learned the shoemaker's trade, which he followed until 1817, when he sailed for America, landing at Halifax. Thence he went to Washington, D. C., where he worked for a time, thence to St. Louis, and in 1819 located in Washington County, Mo., where he followed his trade, and in connection with his brother John, who accompanied him to America, he carried on farming, mining and merchandising. They conducted a successful business until 1836, when the firm was dissolved and Andrew purchased a large tract of land near Potosi, upon which he erected a flour-mill; and, until his death, which occurred in 1852, was engaged in farming and milling. February 2, 1836, he married Bridget Flynn, a native of County Waterford, Ireland.
