He married Henrietta Thorp on 26 January 1846. He lived in New York City, New York County, New York, United States in 1870 and Germantown, Blooming Grove Township, Pike, Pennsylvania, United States in 1879. He died on 7 July 1879, in Easthampton, Hampshire, Massachusetts, United States, at the age of 52, and was buried in Waterbury, New Haven, Connecticut, United States.

1829 · Farmington Canal Opened

Farmington Canal spans 2,476 acres, starting from New Haven, Connecticut, and on to Northampton, Massachusetts. The groundbreaking for the canal was in 1825 and opened in 1829.

1830 · The Second Great Awakening

Being a second spiritual and religious awakening, like the First Great Awakening, many Churches began to spring up from other denominations. Many people began to rapidly join the Baptist and Methodist congregations. Many converts to these religions believed that the Awakening was the precursor of a new millennial age.
