Arthur McKee, also known as Arthur C Smith, 1886 - 1973, age 86, The 1900 census shows Arthur (b. 1886) living with his Parents William and Hannah in Nebraska. 04 Oct 1906 Arthur marries Grace Edith Lefler in South Dakota. The 1910 Census has Arthur living with his wife Grace and two children Clara and Melvin in South Dakota. Also living with him is his brother Louis McKee, son of William and Hannah. 1915 South Dakota Census shows him living in South Dakota with his wife Grace and four children Clara, Melvin, Lloyd, and Vernon. In 1918, he registers for the WWI draft and is living in South Dakota. He disappears from the records from here until 1922 when he marries Elda Alice Terry in Montana under the name Arthur Smith and his parents being Alva and Maud Smith (his sister and brother in law). The 1930 census shows him living in North Dakota with his new family. The 1940 census shows him living in Montana under the name Arthur Smith as well. He died in 1973 in South Dakota. ----------------------------------------------------------------- Arthur C Smith was born November 26, 1876, in Deer Creek MN, the son of William and Hannah McKee. They moved to Crofton NE in 1905. He ranched in Montana for many years. Mr Smith, 96, died Sunday 1973 in Sturgis SD. Survivors include four daughters, Gladys Lye of Fallon, Betty Jean Merchen of Whitewood SD, Clare Davis of Portland OR and Inez Davis of Crawford NE; four sons, Clarence of Beach ND, and Ben and Roy, both of Terry, and Melvin McKee of OR; 25 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
