He died on 7 July 1858, at the age of 69, and was buried in Saint Lawrence, Jersey.

Name Meaning

From the Late Latin name Clemens (genitive Clementis) meaning ‘merciful’. This was borne by several early saints, notably the fourth pope and the early Christian theologian Clement of Alexandria (Titus Flavius Clemens, ad ?150–?215 ).
