When Anna Barbara Knechtli was born on 20 August 1662, in Herisau, Appenzell Ausserrhoden, Switzerland, her father, Johannes Knechtli, was 36 and her mother, Barbel Schiess, was 32. She married Bartholome Berweger on 9 November 1684. They were the parents of at least 4 sons and 2 daughters. She died on 31 July 1704, in her hometown, at the age of 41.
