Sione Afu was born in 1908, in Masilamea, Tongatapu, Tonga. He married Mele Nauna Tuiono in 1931, in Mu`a, Tongatapu, Tonga. They were the parents of at least 1 daughter. He died in 1988, in his hometown, at the age of 80.
