When Tavite Efiafi'olotomua was born in 1869, in Haveluliku, Tongatapu, Tonga, his father, Naamalanga Hafoka, was 29 and his mother, Lute Afaki Taukifonuamalu, was 25. He married Taufa, Kaunanga Efiafi 'o Mu'a. They were the parents of at least 8 sons and 5 daughters. He died in 1946, in his hometown, at the age of 77, and was buried in Lapaha, Tongatapu, Tonga.
