Sarah McDowel was born on 23 November 1785, in Pennsylvania, United States. She married Rev Levi Shinn on 31 July 1804, in Jefferson, Ohio, United States. They were the parents of at least 6 sons and 3 daughters. She lived in Ellington Township, Adams, Illinois, United States in 1850. She died on 25 September 1854, in Payson, Adams, Illinois, United States, at the age of 68, and was buried in Wesley Chapel Cemetery, Ursa Township, Adams, Illinois, United States.

1786 · Shays' Rebellion

Caused by war veteran Daniel Shays, Shays' Rebellion was to protest economic and civil rights injustices that he and other farmers were seeing after the Revolutionary War. Because of the Rebellion it opened the eyes of the governing officials that the Articles of Confederation needed a reform. The Rebellion served as a guardrail when helping reform the United States Constitution.
