He married Mary Gorton on 2 December 1764, in Warwick, Kent, Rhode Island, British Colonial America. They were the parents of at least 5 sons and 5 daughters. He died on 30 November 1796, at the age of 56.

History: Samuel Wilbur (c. 1585–1656), also known as Wilbore and Wildbore, is recorded in Boston, MA, before 1633 and purchased Boston Common in 1634. He and other religious exiles from MA purchased and settled Aquidneck Island (now RI) in 1637.
