Grace Kirkpatrick was born on 20 May 1807, in Ballycastle, County Antrim, Northern Ireland, United Kingdom as the daughter of John Kirkpatrick and Jane Gray. She married James Black about 1820, in Ireland. They were the parents of at least 6 sons and 2 daughters. She died on 5 October 1871, in Ballycastle, County Mayo, Ireland, at the age of 64.
