The first is from Old English boga ‘bow, river bend’ + lēah. The second is from the Old English personal name Buga + + lēah ‘woodland clearing’. The third is named with Old English bula ‘bull’, perhaps a byname (see Bull ) + lēah ‘woodland clearing’.
