He married Mary Cordelia Castor on 31 October 1873, in Adair, Iowa, United States. They were the parents of at least 6 sons and 5 daughters. He lived in Fruitland, Muscatine, Iowa, United States in 1910 and Muscatine, Iowa, United States in 1915. He died in 1911, at the age of 63.
