When Sela Loloahi Napa'a was born on 10 May 1912, in `Ohonua, 'Eua, Tonga, her father, Suliasi Napa'a, was 34 and her mother, Soana Fanguna, was 19. She married Sione Vailala Sipu on 10 May 1935, in `Ohonua, 'Eua, Tonga. She died on 16 February 2001, in her hometown, at the age of 88.
