When John Warren Smoot was born on 10 May 1786, in Dorchester, Maryland, United States, his father, Henry Smoot, was 26 and his mother, Elizabeth Warren, was 25. He married Ardella Smith on 8 January 1817, in Dorchester, Maryland, United States. They were the parents of at least 1 son. He died on 14 February 1832, in his hometown, at the age of 45, and was buried in Dorchester, Maryland, United States.

1787 · The Making of the U.S. Constitution.

The Philadelphia Convention was intended to be the first meeting to establish the first system of government under the Articles of Confederation. From this Convention, the Constitution of the United States was made and then put into place making it one of the major events in all American History.

1788 · The First Presidential Election

The First Presidential election was held in the newly created United States of America. Under the Articles of Confederation, the executive branch of the country was not set up for an individual to help lead the nation. So, under the United States Constitution they position was put in. Because of his prominent roles during the Revolutionary War, George Washington was voted in unanimously as the First President of the United States.

1800 · Movement to Washington D.C.

While the growth of the new nation was exponential, the United States didn’t have permanent location to house the Government. The First capital was temporary in New York City but by the second term of George Washington the Capital moved to Philadelphia for the following 10 years. Ultimately during the Presidency of John Adams, the Capital found a permanent home in the District of Columbia.
