He lived in Jetsmark, Hvetbo, Hjørring, Denmark in 1850 and Rubjerg, Vennebjerg, Hjørring, Denmark for about 10 years. He died on 2 July 1899, in Hjorring Sankt Catherainæ, Sankt Catharinæ, Sejlstrup, Denmark, at the age of 59, and was buried in Hjørring, Nordjylland, Denmark.

The Casino Theatre was built as an entertainment center by Georg Carstensen but was converted into a theatre in 1848. After many years of never gaining popularity, it was closed in 1937 and demolished in 1960.
