When Susana Martig was born in December 1737, in Lenk im Simmental, Bern, Switzerland, her father, Christen Martig, was 24 and her mother, Susanna Eggen, was 25. She married Valentin Ueltschi before 1757, in Oberwil Emmenthal, Bern, Switzerland. They were the parents of at least 5 sons and 3 daughters. She died on 18 March 1811, in her hometown, at the age of 73.
