He married Mary Walden on 25 May 1834, in Bloomington, Perry Township, Monroe, Indiana, United States. They were the parents of at least 3 sons and 2 daughters. He died on 3 June 1856, in Carroll, Missouri, United States, at the age of 51, and was buried in Carroll, Missouri, United States.

Atlantic slave trade abolished.

1812 · Kentucky Bend Created

During the New Madrid earthquakes of 1811-1812, the Kentucky Bend or New Madrid Bend was created. It is located in the southwestern corner of Kentucky on the banks of the Mississippi River.

1818 · Jackson Purchase

The western part of Kentucky purchased by Andrew Jackson from the Chickasaw Indians in 1818. It became known as the Jackson Purchase. This included land that wasn't originally part of Kentucky when it became a state.
