When Niels Johansen was born in 1792, in Kregme, Frederiksborg, Denmark, his father, Johann Sebastian SCHADT, was 44 and his mother, Kirsten Clausdatter, was 34. He married Ellen Pedersen on 21 January 1818, in Kregme, Frederiksborg, Denmark. They were the parents of at least 4 sons and 5 daughters. He died on 10 April 1833, in his hometown, at the age of 41, and was buried in Kregme, Frederiksborg, Denmark.
