When Abraham Crittenton was born on 28 December 1798, in New York, United States, his father, Jason Crittenden, was 37 and his mother, Keziah Brown, was 25. He lived in Lyme, Jefferson, New York, United States for about 10 years and Mexico, Mexico, Oswego, New York, United States in 1875. He registered for military service in 1812. He died on 15 May 1888, at the age of 89, and was buried in Carpenter Cemetery, Jefferson, New York, United States.

While the growth of the new nation was exponential, the United States didn’t have permanent location to house the Government. The First capital was temporary in New York City but by the second term of George Washington the Capital moved to Philadelphia for the following 10 years. Ultimately during the Presidency of John Adams, the Capital found a permanent home in the District of Columbia.
