When Emeterio Rafael Alejandro Castro Blanco was born on 3 March 1897, in San Pedro, Sarchí, Alajuela, Costa Rica, his father, Ramón Lino Castro Murillo, was 43 and his mother, Apolinaria de Jesus Blanco Fernandez, was 35. He married Josefa Benedicta de Jesús Solís Marín on 7 June 1924, in Zarcero, Alajuela, Costa Rica. They were the parents of at least 10 sons and 2 daughters. He died on 7 January 1967, in Quesada, San Carlos, Alajuela, Costa Rica, at the age of 69.
