When Meleane Pasi was born in 1907, in Pangai, Ha'apai, Tonga, her father, Sunia Pasi, was 32 and her mother, Suliana Latu Kafoika, was 20. She married Sione Fotu Vakameilalao about 1930, in Nuku'alofa, Tongatapu, Tonga. They were the parents of at least 2 sons and 1 daughter. She died in 1949, in Ha'apai, Tonga, at the age of 42, and was buried in Ha'apai, Tonga.
