When Leendert Van Galen was born on 9 January 1825, in Oegstgeest, South Holland, Netherlands, his father, Martinus or Matthijs Leendertsz. van Galen, was 31 and his mother, Catharina van Heijningen, was 22. He married Trijntje Weeteling on 17 April 1850, in The Hague, South Holland, Netherlands. They were the parents of at least 2 sons and 8 daughters. He died on 30 July 1871, in Holland, Netherlands, at the age of 46.
