He married Emily Elizabeth Stowers on 11 June 1829, in Danville, Vermilion, Illinois, United States. They were the parents of at least 1 son and 7 daughters. He died on 9 June 1863, in Mercer, Illinois, United States, at the age of 55, and was buried in Western Cemetery, Swedona, Mercer, Illinois, United States.
