When John Owings was born about 1762, in Anne Arundel, Maryland, United States, his father, Rev. Richard Owings, was 25 and his mother, Rachel Stinchcomb, was 26. He married Deborah Majors on 12 February 1783, in Baltimore, Maryland, United States. They were the parents of at least 3 sons and 1 daughter. He died in 1804, at the age of 43.

1786 · Shays' Rebellion

Caused by war veteran Daniel Shays, Shays' Rebellion was to protest economic and civil rights injustices that he and other farmers were seeing after the Revolutionary War. Because of the Rebellion it opened the eyes of the governing officials that the Articles of Confederation needed a reform. The Rebellion served as a guardrail when helping reform the United States Constitution.
