When Amos Wilson Dart was born on 25 June 1815, in Monkton, Addison, Vermont, United States, his father, George Dart, was 30 and his mother, Currance Evalina Mallory, was 26. He married Hannah Caroline Hays on 20 April 1840. They were the parents of at least 2 daughters. He lived in Fonda, Pocahontas, Iowa, United States in 1880 and Cedar Township, Pocahontas, Iowa, United States in 1885. He died on 29 September 1899, at the age of 84, and was buried in Grant Township Cemetery, Grant Township, Pocahontas, Iowa, United States.
