When Jan Ersson was born on 19 September 1787, in Ekeby, Västmanland, Sweden, his father, Eric Olsson, was 32 and his mother, Anna Hansdotter, was 35. He married Stina Ersson on 1 January 1814. They were the parents of at least 3 sons and 3 daughters. He died on 16 April 1849, in Skultuna, Västmanland, Sweden, at the age of 61.
