Hans Johansen Ihlen was born about 1841, in Modum, Buskerud, Norway as the son of Johan Henriks Nielsen. He married Mariane Dorthea Christophersdatter on 29 December 1865, in Eiker, Buskerud, Norway. They were the parents of at least 6 sons and 6 daughters. He lived in Drammen, Drammen, Buskerud, Norway for about 9 years. He died in 1930, in Norway, at the age of 90.
