When Robert Sadler was born in 1780, in Castletenison Demesne, County Roscommon, Ireland, his father, Edward Sadler, was 26 and his mother, Margaret Swan, was 18. He married Ann Thornton in 1808, in Ireland. They were the parents of at least 7 sons and 7 daughters. He died on 3 March 1842, in Salaberry-de-Valleyfield, Beauharnois-Salaberry, Quebec, Canada, at the age of 62, and was buried in Ormstown, Châteauguay, Quebec, Canada.
