When Dr Amos Perry was born on 23 September 1795, in Otsego, New York, United States, his father, Jonas Perry, was 35 and his mother, Susannah Damon, was 36. He married Patience Cheney on 18 August 1818. They were the parents of at least 4 sons and 5 daughters. He lived in Colebrook, Ashtabula, Ohio, United States for about 10 years. He died on 18 March 1885, in Troy, Doniphan, Kansas, United States, at the age of 89, and was buried in Mount Olive Cemetery, Troy, Doniphan, Kansas, United States.

1797 · Albany is Named Capital of New York

Albany became the capital of New York in 1797. Albany is the oldest continuous settlement of the original 13 colonies.

1800 · Movement to Washington D.C.

While the growth of the new nation was exponential, the United States didn’t have permanent location to house the Government. The First capital was temporary in New York City but by the second term of George Washington the Capital moved to Philadelphia for the following 10 years. Ultimately during the Presidency of John Adams, the Capital found a permanent home in the District of Columbia.
