When Allan McPherson Findlay was born on 1 January 1830, in Newmilns, Ayrshire, Scotland, United Kingdom, his father, James Findlay, was 32 and his mother, Mary McPherson, was 32. He married Jessie Ireland on 4 May 1856, in Liverpool St Peter and St Nicholas, Liverpool, Lancashire, England. They were the parents of at least 2 sons and 4 daughters. He lived in Utah, United States in 1870. He died on 11 February 1891, in Panaca, Lincoln, Nevada, United States, at the age of 61, and was buried in Panaca Cemetery, Panaca, Lincoln, Nevada, United States.

1830 · The Second Great Awakening
Being a second spiritual and religious awakening, like the First Great Awakening, many Churches began to spring up from other denominations. Many people began to rapidly join the Baptist and Methodist congregations. Many converts to these religions believed that the Awakening was the precursor of a new millennial age.
1832 · The Scottish Reform Act
The Scottish Reform Act was introduced by Parliament that introduced changes to the election laws in Scotland. The Act didn’t change the method of how the counties elected members but adopted a different solution for each pair of counties. Ultimately, it brought about boundary changes so that some burghs would have more say for the country than others.
