When Mary Ann Tipton was born on 10 May 1796, in Washington, Tennessee, United States, her father, Jonathan Tipton, was 19 and her mother, Lavinia Adams Williams, was 19. She married William Wear about 1814, in Blount, Tennessee, United States. They were the parents of at least 6 sons and 9 daughters. She lived in Alabama, United States in 1870. She died on 21 March 1878, in Cherokee, Alabama, United States, at the age of 81, and was buried in Hopewell, Cherokee, Alabama, United States.

1800 · Movement to Washington D.C.

While the growth of the new nation was exponential, the United States didn’t have permanent location to house the Government. The First capital was temporary in New York City but by the second term of George Washington the Capital moved to Philadelphia for the following 10 years. Ultimately during the Presidency of John Adams, the Capital found a permanent home in the District of Columbia.
