James McBride was born in 1762, in Derryaghy, County Antrim, Ireland. He married Mary Shaw on 21 November 1787, in Boardmills, County Down, Ireland. They were the parents of at least 5 sons and 6 daughters. He died on 28 July 1844, in Ireland, at the age of 82.
