When Thomas Ashley was born on 12 October 1757, his father, Simeon Ashley, was 28 and his mother, Abagail Williams, was 28. He married Sarah Ensign on 16 January 1783, in Westfield, Hampden, Massachusetts, United States. They were the parents of at least 7 sons and 2 daughters. He registered for military service in 1778. He died on 2 March 1848, in Rochester, Monroe, New York, United States, at the age of 90, and was buried in Mount Hope Cemetery, Rochester, Monroe, New York, United States.
