When Georg Jost was born on 9 May 1837, in Dilsberg, Amt Heidelberg, Baden, his father, Peter Johann Jost, was 30 and his mother, Maria Katharina Reuther, was 28. He died on 12 April 1862, at the age of 24, and was buried in Mückenloch, Amt Heidelberg, Baden.
