    1800 · Movement to Washington D.C.

    While the growth of the new nation was exponential, the United States didn’t have permanent location to house the Government. The First capital was temporary in New York City but by the second term of George Washington the Capital moved to Philadelphia for the following 10 years. Ultimately during the Presidency of John Adams, the Capital found a permanent home in the District of Columbia.

    1812 · Monumental Church Built

    The Monumental Church was built between 1812-1814 on the sight where the Richmond Theatre fire had taken place. It is a monument to those that died in the fire.

    1825 · The Crimes Act

    The Crimes Act was made to provide a clearer punishment of certain crimes against the United States. Part of it includes: Changing the maximum sentence of imprisonment to be increased from seven to ten years and changing the maximum fine from $5,000 to $10,000.

    Americanized form of German Blankenbühler (see Blankenbiller ). Compare Blankenbeckler .

    History: The Blankenbakers trace their origin to Hans Thomas Blankenbühler who lived in Germany in the 17th century and whose children immigrated to VA in the beginning of the 18th century. Many of his descendants bear the surname Blankenbeckler .
