He married Louisa Jane Campbell on 11 August 1836, in Talbotton, Talbot, Georgia, United States. They were the parents of at least 2 sons and 5 daughters. He died on 11 March 1890, in Glenville, Russell, Alabama, United States, at the age of 77, and was buried in Elizabeth Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery, Russell, Alabama, United States.
