Niklaus Schultheiss was christened on 12 August 1666, in Melchnau, Bern, Switzerland as the son of Jost Schultheiss and Elsbeth Bäsiger. He married Verena Kaser on 30 January 1691. They were the parents of at least 2 sons and 2 daughters. He died on 1 April 1712, in his hometown, at the age of 45, and was buried in Melchnau, Bern, Switzerland.
