Engelbrecht Swensson was born on 2 August 1754, in Edsviken, Västra Götaland, Sweden as the son of Svend Andersson and Britta Svendsdotter. He married Elin Nilsdotter in 1784. They were the parents of at least 2 sons and 2 daughters. He died on 17 May 1819, in Steneby, Älvsborg, Sweden, at the age of 64.
