He married Johanne Marie Nielsdatter on 2 January 1818, in Nakskov, Sankt Nikolai, Lollands Nørre, Maribo, Denmark. They were the parents of at least 4 sons. He died on 26 August 1829, in his hometown, at the age of 38.
